A New Era of Restrictions in IPL 2025!
The grand spectacle of one Mahakumbh has just concluded, and in a few days, another grand event is set to begin.
Even if you missed the previous Mahakumbh, this one will completely immerse you—because it features cricketing legends like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and MS Dhoni!
The Mahakumbh of cricket, the Indian Premier League (IPL), is all set to begin its 18th season on March 22, 2025. Like every season, fans are eagerly awaiting for the action packed performance of their favorite team and players . However, this season comes with a twist!
The BCCI has introduced a strict new set of rules that will make IPL 2025 feel more like a high-security jail for players. The days of cricketers enjoying themselves both on and off the field, partying, and having fun seem to be over. These new restrictions will completely change the way IPL has been played until now.
Let’s take a look at 10 New IPL 2025 rules imposed by BCCI:
1. Mandatory Team Bus Travel
Players are now required to travel only via the team bus. Earlier, if a player had a match in their hometown, they could use their personal vehicle to reach the stadium. This will no longer be allowed.
2. Dressing Room Restrictions
Family members of players will not be allowed inside the dressing room. In fact, no outsider will be permitted entry.
3. New Practice Regulations
Each team will get access to only two net areas and one side wicket on the main ground for practice. Open net practice will be strictly prohibited.
4. No Practice on Match Days
Teams are not allowed to practice and players are also not allowed to give fitness test on match days.
5. PMO Recognition for Match Entry
Only those approved by the PMO (Prime Minister’s Office) will be allowed to enter the stadium on match days.
6. Penalty for Hitting LED Boards
If a player hits on the LED board, then subsequent actions will be taken.
7. New Designated Area for Substitute Players
A separate area for substitute players has been created, where they are only allowed to keep towels and water bottles.
8. Mandatory Orange & Purple Caps
It is mandatory for players to wear the Orange and Purple caps throughout the season.
9. Strict Post-Match Dress Code
Players will not be allowed to wear flappy or sleeveless jerseys during the post-match presentation ceremonies.
10. Limited Support Staff Access
Only 12 support staff members, including doctors, will be allowed inside the stadium and dressing room.
11. Jersey Number Change Notification
If a player wants to change their jersey number, they must notify BCCI at least 24 hours in advance.
12. The Golden Badge for Defending Champions
While BCCI has not made an official announcement, sources suggest that the defending champions will have a golden IPL logo on their jersey instead of the standard white logo.
These are the new rules that BCCI has implemented for IPL 2025.
What do you think? Are these rules too harsh on players, or are they necessary to maintain discipline and standards in IPL?
