The new sports minister said, “120 Indian Athletes Will Qualify For The Paris Olympics 2024”
July 26 marks the start of the Paris Olympics 2024, for which 97 Indian athletes have already earned qualification.
In a meeting with IOA President PT Usha on Thursday, barely a day after taking office, the new Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya assessed India’s readiness for the upcoming Olympics. Usha seemed confident about the country’s delegation of over 100 athletes in Paris.
At the IOA Bhawan here on Thursday, Mandaviya—who succeeded Anurag Thakur as head of the sports ministry—met with Usha and other high-ranking members of the Indian Olympic Association. On July 26, 2024, the Paris Olympics will take place.
Mandaviya was briefed about the nation’s preparations for the Paris Games at the more than hour-long meeting, which was also attended by the newly appointed Minister of State for Sports, Raksha Khadse, Sports Secretary Sujata Chaturvedi, and Director General Sandip Pradhan of the Sports Authority of India.
“Today was my first visit with IOA officials, who gave me an update on India’s Olympic preparations in Paris. “The government is dedicated to providing every conceivable assistance,” Mandaviya declared in a brief statement to the press.
Usha, the head of IOA, appeared pleased with the encounter and said that the athletes heading to Paris will benefit from the minister’s involvement.
“Today, the Minister of State for Sports and the Minister of Sports visited our IOA, and I am delighted that they inquired about IOA and the preparations for Paris. This time, we did everything correctly, and I gave him a thorough rundown of everything. We’ll communicate once a week, and I hope this will benefit our Olympic participants,” she stated.
“We have taken care of athletes in every way. The athletes were our top priority, and this time, we followed their wishes. As a result, we anticipate more medals this year than in Tokyo. I don’t want to give the players stress by placing any numbers.
“Already 97 athletes have qualified, and we are expecting around 115 to 120 athletes to represent India in Paris Olympics,” the great athlete stated.
The Paris Olympics will be held from July 26 till August 11 this year.
